10 Tips To Clean Up the Home Before Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and hosting the event is a big deal!  With everything you’ve got going on in the kitchen, who really has the time to deep clean the house beforehand? 1. Clean the Bathroom.

If you only have the time to clean one room in your house other than the kitchen, make sure you clean the bathroom.  Most guests can handle a little dust or dirt on the carpet, but a dirty bathroom is pretty unpleasant.

2. Vacuum.

Quickly run the vacuum in the rooms where your guests will most likely be such as the entryway, bathroom, dining room, living room and even a guest room if you have it.

3. Sweep the kitchen floor.

You’ve worked hard over the past few hours cooking and getting ready for the big event, make sure you sweep the kitchen floor to make sure the mess is all cleaned up.

4. Wipe the kitchen countertops.

The same goes for the kitchen countertops.  You’ve spent hours getting ready, cooking, cleaning as you go, make sure the kitchen countertops are clean and empty ready for all of that delicious food to be plated.

5. Empty the kitchen sink; load and start the dishwasher.

Let the first of many dishwasher cycles run while your guests are arriving.  if you have the time to unload before everyone sits down to dinner, do it. You’ll be able to get multiple washes in throughout the day!

6. Straighten and dust.

Focus on where your guests will be, remove the clutter and then the dust on any major surfaces.  Focus on the coffee and side tables, along with electronics and low shelves.

7. Fluff the living room pillows.

Fluff and floof those living room pillows as you’ll notice guests taking a quick power nap after dinner, waiting for those delicious pies in the oven.

8. Adjust the lighting.

Turn off overhead lights and turn on your lamps.  Light some candles and set the mood.  you want to make sure you have some natural light to make everyone more lively!

9. Clear a place for coats and bags.

As your guests arrive you want to make sure you have a dedicated locations to place all of their coats and bags.  It makes it easier and more organized as your guests arrive, as well as leave your home on the holiday.

10. Put on some music.

You’ve done what you can to get your home in tip top shape for the Holiday, now it’ts time to put on some music and enjoy your compnay!
